What this bill does
In plain words · AI-written from the official summaryExpands food assistance for disabled veterans
This bill makes it easier for certain disabled veterans to get SNAP benefits, which help pay for groceries. It also excuses these veterans from the usual work requirements that come with SNAP, recognizing that some disabilities make employment difficult or impossible.
How it affects you
If you're a disabled veteran, especially one with catastrophic disabilities, this could help you access food assistance without having to meet work-related requirements. The change takes effect in October 2030, giving the government time to prepare the new system.
