What this bill does

In plain words · AI-written from the official summary

Tax credit for living organ donors

Ever wondered if people who donate organs might face financial hardship from the process. This bill creates a tax credit of up to $5,000 that living organ donors can claim for expenses they pay out of pocket related to donating a kidney, liver, lung, pancreas, intestine, or bone marrow. The credit covers costs like travel, lodging, medical expenses, legal paperwork, and lost wages from time off work.

How it affects you

If you donate an organ while alive, this could help offset some of the financial costs you pay for the donation process. The credit only applies to expenses you pay yourself, not ones covered by insurance or another person or organization.
