What this bill does
In plain words · AI-written from the official summarySpeeds up immigration court removal cases
This bill sets tight deadlines for immigration removal proceedings, which are the legal process for deporting people from the country. It requires the Department of Justice to finish these cases in immigration court within 15 days of starting them, and to begin proceedings as quickly as possible after notifying someone they're being charged with removal.
How it affects you
This primarily affects people in immigration removal proceedings and immigration authorities. If you're going through removal proceedings, your case would need to be decided much faster than current timelines allow. Immigration courts and the Department of Justice would need to handle cases at an accelerated pace to meet these deadlines.

Rapid Expulsion of Migrant Offenders who Violate and Evade Act or the REMOVE Act
This bill requires the Department of Justice (DOJ) to complete removal proceedings in immigration court not later than 15 days after commencement. Further, after U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement files with an immigration court a notice to appear that has been served to an individual, DOJ must commence removal proceedings as promptly as possible.
