Introduced in the House, sent to the Committee on Veterans' Affairs, Nov 4, 2025
What this bill does
In plain words · AI-written from the official summaryVA examines veteran opioid overdose deaths
The bill requires the Department of Veterans Affairs to review the deaths of veterans who died from opioid overdoses in the five years before the law takes effect. These would be veterans who received VA hospital care or medical services during that same time period. The VA must then publish a report on what it finds.
How it affects you
This mainly affects the VA and veterans' families who lost loved ones to opioid overdoses. The public report could help identify patterns in veteran opioid deaths and inform future VA decisions about preventing overdoses, though the bill itself doesn't require any specific changes based on what the review finds.
