What this bill does

In plain words · AI-written from the official summary

DHS to counter security threats from China

This bill creates a working group inside the Department of Homeland Security focused on security threats related to the Chinese Communist Party. The group would assess how DHS is handling threats like terrorism, cyberattacks, border security, and port security. They'd also report annually on efforts to counter the CCP's use of the immigration system, economic practices, and involvement in financial crimes and drug trafficking. The working group would last for seven years, and DHS would develop new technologies and methods to strengthen security against these threats.

How it affects you

This bill doesn't directly change things for most people in their daily lives. It's mainly an organizational step for federal agencies to coordinate efforts within DHS. A government oversight office would also report on how well it's working, but the law itself creates internal government processes rather than new rules or benefits that affect individuals directly.
