H.R. 7880 · Where this bill is now
In committee
Introduced in the House, sent to the Committee on Energy and Commerce, Mar 9, 2026
What this bill does
In plain words · AI-written from the official summaryAllows raw milk sales across state lines
This bill stops the federal government from blocking the movement of unpasteurized (raw) milk between states when both the origin state and destination state allow it. The milk would have to be produced and packaged following the rules of its home state and be intended for direct consumption, but if both states permit it, the federal government wouldn't step in to block the shipment.
How it affects you
If you live in a state that allows raw milk sales and want to buy it from another state that also allows it, this bill would remove a federal barrier to that purchase. For producers in states permitting raw milk, it could expand their customer base to other permissive states. Most people who only buy pasteurized milk won't see any change.

Interstate Milk Freedom Act of 2026
This bill prohibits federal regulation of the interstate traffic of unpasteurized milk or milk products packaged for direct human consumption under specified circumstances.
Specifically, the prohibition applies if such products (1) would be considered in violation of federal law solely because they are unpasteurized; (2) are allowed by the state of origin to be distributed for direct human consumption by any means; (3) are produced, packaged, and moved in compliance with the laws of such state; and (4) are moved from the state of origin with the intent to transport them to another state that allows the distribution of such products for direct human consumption.
