What this bill does
In plain words · AI-written from the official summaryIRS to test AI for finding tax fraud
The bill directs the IRS to run a pilot program using artificial intelligence to spot inaccurate tax returns and catch fraud. After the program wraps up, the Government Accountability Office (an independent watchdog agency) has to report back to Congress on how well it worked, how much money was recovered, and how accurate the AI tools were at finding fraudulent returns.
How it affects you
If you file a federal tax return, this could potentially affect you down the line. The pilot program is designed to help the IRS catch fraud and incorrect claims that cost taxpayers money, though the summary doesn't spell out exactly how this particular program might change what happens to individual filers. The real impact will depend on what Congress decides to do after seeing the government's report.
