What this bill does

In plain words · AI-written from the official summary

Expands job services for Gold Star spouses

The Disabled Veterans' Outreach Program already helps disabled veterans find jobs and develop careers. This bill would expand that program to also help spouses of certain veterans and service members. It would cover spouses of those who died in service, died from service-related injuries, are missing in action or captured, have total permanent disabilities from service, or died while having a total disability rating.

How it affects you

Gold Star spouses—those who lost a spouse in military service or to service-connected causes—would now have access to career counseling and employment services through the Department of Labor. This could help them find stable jobs and advance their careers during what is often a difficult transition.
