What this bill does
In plain words · AI-written from the official summaryCreates watchdog role at U.S. Trade Representative
This bill would establish a new Inspector General position at the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative. This inspector would audit and investigate how the office runs its programs, look for fraud and waste, suggest ways to prevent problems, and report findings to both the office and Congress.
How it affects you
Most people won't notice a direct change in their daily lives. However, this creates oversight of a federal office that makes trade decisions affecting American businesses and consumers, so the public would have better information about how that office operates.
