What this bill does

In plain words · AI-written from the official summary

Expands VA funding for vehicle adaptations

This bill expands what the Department of Veterans Affairs can pay for when it comes to helping veterans with disabilities. It adds certain automobile adaptations to the list of medical services the VA can fund, including things like ramps, lifts, lowered floors, and modified seating that help veterans get in and out of vehicles or stay comfortable while driving or riding as a passenger. The bill also extends an existing rule about pension limits for veterans who are hospitalized or living in care facilities.

How it affects you

If you're a veteran with a disability that makes it hard to use a regular vehicle, this could mean the VA might help pay for changes to your car to make it more accessible. The changes apply to both drivers and passengers. If you're a hospitalized or institutionalized veteran receiving pension benefits, this bill keeps the current limits on those payments in place through 2032.
