What this bill does
In plain words · AI-written from the official summarySchools get more mental health support
This bill aims to make mental health and substance use disorder services more available in schools. It does this two ways: first, it increases federal funding through Medicaid to help pay for counselors, social workers, and psychologists already working in schools, and second, it creates grant money to hire more of these providers at schools and colleges.
How it affects you
Students and their families could see more mental health support available at schools, since more providers like counselors and psychologists would be funded to work there. Schools would also get help paying for these services through increased federal dollars, which could mean easier access to mental health care without families having to seek it elsewhere.
