What this bill does
In plain words · AI-written from the official summaryKeeps SNAP benefits flowing without interruption
This bill makes sure the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, commonly known as SNAP (the federal food benefits program), keeps paying out money to people who depend on it. It does this by providing temporary funding for SNAP if Congress hasn't yet passed the full budget for the Department of Agriculture for 2026. The bill also covers any SNAP payments that people missed starting September 30, 2025, so they get back the benefits they were owed.
How it affects you
If you or someone in your household receives SNAP benefits, this bill matters directly to you. It means your benefits won't stop while Congress sorts out the budget, and if you missed payments during the gap, this bill makes sure you get caught up. Without this funding bridge, eligible people could have faced sudden interruptions in their food assistance.
