Section 420(a) of the Robert T. Stafford Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance Act (42 U.S.C. 5187(a)) is amended— (1) by striking the period at the end and inserting; and; (2) by striking local government for the mitigation and inserting the following: local government for— (1) the mitigation; and (3) by adding at the end the following: (2) assessments and emergency stabilization to protect public safety irrespective of the incident period for a declared fire..
