Findings and purpose

Congress finds that diagnostic error is a leading cause of preventable harm and waste in the United States health system, and the modernization of diagnostic safety and quality infrastructure, through applied research, data science, patient engagement, and systems learning, is necessary to improve outcomes and reduce costs.
