Section 7507 of title 46, United States Code, is amended by adding at the end the following: (d) Renewal With respect to any renewal of a valid merchant mariner credential issued under this part that is not an extension under subsection (a) or (b), the validity period of such credential shall begin the day after the expiration of the current credential..
