Dredging vessels

(a) In general Not later than 1 year after the date of enactment of this Act, the Secretary shall provide to the Committee on Environment and Public Works of the Senate and the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure of the House of Representatives a briefing on opportunities for the Corps of Engineers to contract with private entities for the design and procurement of dredging vessels owned and operated by the Corps of Engineers. (b) Requirements In providing the briefing under subsection (a), the Secretary shall— (1) discuss any current or previous efforts by the Corps of Engineers to contract with private entities for the design and procurement of dredging vessels; and (2) identify the benefits and challenges, as applicable, associated with such contracts, including any challenges associated with costs and the acquisition process.
