Privacy policy
This policy covers the Public Law Tracker website and the Public Law Tracker apps for iOS and Android, made by Shy Inc.
No account, no personal data
You do not sign in or create an account. We do not ask for your name, email address, phone number, contacts, photos or precise location, and we do not collect them.
What is collected
- Anonymous usage counts. When a bill page is opened or a search is run, we record the bill and a timestamp so the “Popular this week” list can rank bills. These counts are not linked to you or your device.
- ZIP code lookups. A ZIP code you type on the Your reps screen is sent to our database to find the matching congressional district. It is not stored with any identifier.
- Standard server logs. Our hosting providers (Vercel and Supabase) keep short-lived request logs, which include IP addresses, for security and reliability.
Advertising
The website shows ads through Google AdSense and the apps show ads through Google AdMob. Google may use cookies or the device advertising identifier to show ads and measure them. You can limit ad personalisation in your device settings and at adssettings.google.com. Google’s own policy applies to that data: policies.google.com/technologies/ads. In the apps you can hide ads for a day by watching a short video; that choice is stored only on your device.
Where the content comes from
Bill text, status, actions and votes come from Congress.gov, GovInfo and the House and Senate roll call records. These are public government sources. Plain-language summaries are generated from the official Congressional Research Service summary and are labelled as such.
Children
The site and apps are not directed at children under 13 and collect no personal information from anyone.
