Agriculture and Food Research Initiative

Subsection (b) of the Competitive, Special, and Facilities Research Grant Act (7 U.S.C. 3157(b)) is amended— (1) in paragraph (2)— (A) in subparagraph (A)(iii)— (i) by inserting regionally adapted before cultivar; and (ii) by inserting breeding for environmental resilience, before and participatory breeding; (B) in subparagraph (B)(i), by inserting, including methods of increasing survival rate and adaptability of shellfish after aquaculture; (C) in subparagraph (E)— (i) in clause (iv), by striking and at the end; (ii) in clause (v), by striking the period at the end and inserting; and; and (iii) by adding at the end the following: (vi) hydroponics, aquaponics, aeroponics, and other production technologies used in controlled-environment agriculture production.; and (D) in subparagraph (F)— (i) in clause (i), by inserting, including supply chain coordination and capacity building after overseas markets; (ii) in clause (vii), by striking; and at the end and inserting a semicolon; (iii) in clause (viii), by striking the period at the end and inserting; and; inserting a semicolon; and (iv) by adding at the end the following: (ix) workforce training and development, including meat and poultry processing (including rendering) and precision agriculture.; agriculture; and (x) reducing food loss and food waste.; (2) in paragraph (7)— (A) by redesignating subparagraphs (D) through (I) as subparagraphs (E) through (J), respectively; (B) by inserting after subparagraph (C) the following: (D) area career and technical education schools;; and (C) in subparagraph (J), as so redesignated, by striking (H) and inserting (I); and (3) in paragraph (11)(A), in the matter preceding clause (i), by striking 2023 and inserting 2031.
