Plutonium pit production capacity

Section 4219 of the Atomic Energy Defense Act (50 U.S.C. 2538a) is amended— (1) by redesignating subsections (f), (g), and (h) as subsections (g), (i), and (h), respectively; (2) by moving subsection (i), as so redesignated, so as to appear after subsection (h), as so redesignated; (3) in subsection (i), as so redesignated, by striking this subsection and inserting this section; and (4) by inserting after subsection (e) the following new subsection (f): (f) Capacity In carrying out subsection (a), the Secretary of Energy shall— (1) ensure that Los Alamos National Laboratory, Los Alamos, New Mexico, has the ability to reliably produce not less than 30 war reserve plutonium pits annually; and (2) ensure that the Savannah River Plutonium Processing Facility at the Savannah River Site, Aiken, South Carolina, has the ability to reliably produce not less than 50 war reserve plutonium pits annually..
