Extension and modification of Pacific Deterrence Initiative

(a) Funding Subsection (c) of section 1251 of the William M. (Mac) Thornberry National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2021 (10 U.S.C. 113 note) is amended— (1) by striking the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2026 and inserting the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2027; and (2) by striking fiscal year 2026 and inserting fiscal year 2027. (b) Reports and briefings Subsection (d) of such section is amended— (1) in paragraph (1)— (A) in subparagraph (A), in the matter preceding clause (i), by striking fiscal years 2027 and 2028 and inserting fiscal years 2028 and 2029; and (B) in subparagraph (B), by adding at the end the following new clause: (viii) The independent assessment of the Commander of the United States Indo-Pacific Command with respect to the activities and resources required for the subordinate unified commands of the United States Indo-Pacific Command, including United States Forces Korea and United States Forces Japan.; and (2) in paragraph (2), by striking fiscal years 2027 and 2028 each place it appears and inserting fiscal years 2028 and 2029. (c) Extension of plan Subsection (e) of such section is amended, in the matter preceding paragraph (1), by striking fiscal years 2027 and 2028 and inserting fiscal years 2028 and 2029.
